Exploring the textile work of Genevieve Griffiths and the skill of weaving to create paper woven Easter cards.

EYFS and KS1: Creating art from natural materials. Using water colours to create observational paintings of plants. 

KS1

 

Using a variety of objects and materials to paint ‘paintbrush free’.
Mixing colours to make darker, bolder shades.
Comparing, designing and creating a painting in the style of Peter Thorpe.

Working in sketch books to recreate work by the South African artist Ester Mahlangu.

Lower KS2

 

Exploring cave art and creating a prehistoric and modern day representation.

Developing the use of tone, secondary colour mixing and drawing to scale.

Local Artist Study – Jenny Jenkins 

Using water colours to blend and layer paint. 

Designing and moulding Neolithic clay pots in the style of Clarice Cliff.

Creating Roman mosaic designs through the use of printing techniques, taking ideas for colour choices from the work of artist Andy Warhol. 

Upper KS2

Developing observation skills and shading techniques to complete portraits of Her Majesty.
