Mental Health Mondays and Well-Being Wednesdays
Each term we hold either a ‘Mental Health Monday’ or a ‘Well-Being Wednesday’. These are days when pupils leave their usual afternoon timetables and have the chance to take part in workshops to support good mental health and well-being. On these afternoon, all members of staff offer pupils the chance to try out activities which they as adults find supports their strong mental and physical well-being. For example, children have the opportunity to take part in activities such as art and craft sessions, music and singing sessions, outdoor activities such as den building, mindfulness activities such as affirmation pebble painting, breathing exercises and mindfulness colouring, sporting activities, yoga sessions and story time sessions. Through these afternoons, the adults in school are able to model the importance of ensuring that we look after our mental well-being. The sessions also promote the importance of talking about our mental well-being and give the children the opportunity to talk and share their thoughts and feelings, as well as offer support to their peers.
Zones of Regulation
This year we have been looking again at the Zones of Regulation. This helps us to identify which zone we are in and see how we can help ourselves to move between zones.
